M.E.S. Ponnani College had played a major role in the educational upliftment of the coastal community which was educationally and economically backward for decades. Since its inception in 1968, the college is heading forward with the hard work and support of a group of a group of committed people and co-operation of the M.E.S local and central managing committee, as and when required. I am also grateful to the PTA and the ALUMNI for their co-operation. The College is soaring to still further heights for the past half a decade. The Recognition of the Dept of Aquaculture and Fishery Microbiology as University Research Centre, The completion of New Commerce Block, New Library building with the financial assistance of Late Korambayil Ahmed Haji MP LAD Fund, IT building with the financial assistance of Jb.Banathwala’s MP LAD Fund, New Internet Direct Connectivity with the Support of AKSHAYA, Improvements in the Laboratories and Museums with the SARD funding of KSCSTE, The Construction of the new Auditorium is on with the financial assistance of Sri. Vijayaraghavan’s MP LAD Fund. |
.:My Vision |
I am really delighted with the increase in the research activities in various departments, evidenced by the increased number of ongoing funded projects. The competence of the students has also improved in the recent years as indicated by the better performance in various competitions and their performance in the campus selections. I would congratulate the organisers of Monthly interdepartmental Quiz Competition, introduced last year and the activities of the Career Guidence Cell. In spite of backwardness, it has always surpassed any urban institutions in matters, especially of academic excellence, sincerity of teachers; and the artistic and histrionic talents of the students. I am proud of my colleagues - the members of various teaching faculties and the members of the non-teaching staff. The extension services and faculty improvement programmes undertaken by the various teaching departments like Applied Geology, Aquaculture, Zoology, Chemistry, Economics, Commerce, Physics, English etc., are worth mentioning. The co-curricular activities like the NCC and the three units of NSS, NCC and CSS are imparting training very effectively.. The various campus clubs like Herbal Club, Flamingo Nature Club, Campus Crafts, Physics Club, Women Empowerment Cell, etc. are functioning smoothly. The examination results for the past three years are exemplary congratulations!! I remember with grief of the loss a visionary of the managing committee, Mr.K.V.Amiruddin My future plans and aspirations are in the realms of Recognition of more PG departments with research status so that more teachers and scholars will be able to do research, better accomodation for the students, both boys and girls and also for the teachers. Suggestions have also been made to the management to plan for the construction of a sports complex and a guest house in the campus. |
